BDS Movement - Making the World Care | Boycott Israel UK
BDS Overview
The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (or BDS) movement is a Palestinian-led movement for freedom, justice and equality. BDS upholds the simple principle that Palestinians are entitled to the same rights as the rest of humanity. It seeks a global corporation to promote various forms of boycott against Israel until it meets it's obligations under international law.
BDS is an inclusive, anti-racist human rights movement that is opposed on principle to all forms of discrimination, including anti-semitism and Islamophobia.
Israel has been occupying and colonising Palestinian land, discriminating against Palestinian citizens of Israel and denying Palestinian refugees the right to return to their homes. Inspired by the South African anti-apartheid movement, the BDS call urges the world-community to take action to pressure Israel to comply with international law.
BDS has over the years grown to become a vibrant global movement made up of unions, academic associations, churches, universities and grassroots movements across the world. Eleven years since its launch, BDS is having a major undeniable impact and is effectively challenging international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.
BDS Goals
The goals of the BDS Movement can be categorized into 3 main ones :
